The official Twitter account for the One Piece anime has confirmed that David Sobolov will be the English dub voice actor for Kaido! It will be his first anime role in ~25 years. You might already know him as the voice of Volibear in League of Legends, the animated version of Drax the Destroyer (GotG), Blitzwing from Bumblebee, among others. Now he will voice the strongest creature alive in One Piece and captain of the Beast Pirates. It will be a very important character in the upcoming English dubbed episodes of One Piece!
Funimation is releasing the English dub episodes of One Piece in batches. The next 14 episodes will release as Season 11, Voyage 9, and will include episodes 733-746. The batch released in digital storefronts on October 5 (Microsoft Movies & TV). As for streaming, the new episodes will be available on Funimation on October 26. David Sobolov will debut as the English dub voice of Kaido in these episodes, which will also mark the end of the Dressrossa arc of One Piece.
Meanwhile, the anime is getting closer to episode 1000, with only 3 episodes left to go. Episode 997 titled “The Battle Under the Moon! The Berserker, Sulong the Moon Lion!” will premiere in Japan on October 31st at 9:30am JST, with the international version premiering 1h30m later.
You can watch the anime on Funimation or Crunchyroll, while you can catch up to the latest One Piece manga chapter for free on either VIZ website or MANGA Plus. There’s also the Shonen Jump mobile app, which costs $2/month and allows ‘unlocking’ 100 chapters per day. The chapter arrives at 24:00JST.
