Platinum End Episode 10: Another Player

Platinum End episode 10 sees Mukaido and Mirai stuck in a tricky situation. But just as things are looking bleak, another player comes into the fray ready for battle. Who comes out on top in this spicy clash? Let’s discuss the key talking points from this week’s episode. Spoilers ahead!

Backed into a corner

What kicks off the conflict of this episode is Mukaido stupidly heading into the cage that his family is trapped in. Encased in a one-way mirror surface, once inside, he has no way of seeing the outside. This means that he’s vulnerable to any arrows that Metropoliman or Hajime shoot at him.

This leaves Mirai in a tricky situation. Once Mukaido is inside the cage, Metropoliman shows up, effectively making a two versus one face off. He is backed into a corner. He can’t let Mukaido die, which means he can’t directly take action against either of his foes. Mirai is then forced into getting into the cage himself to stick with Mukaido.

It then becomes a battle of attrition from then on. Mukaido and Mirai fly at speeds invisible to the naked eye, preventing them from getting shot directly. However, the two can’t keep this up forever. Without a plan and with limited stamina, the two seem trapped to fly until they can no longer keep it up.

It feels like the trap went a little too smoothly for the show’s villains. It’s kind of unnaturally dumb of Mukaido to just run in headfirst into the cage. In that moment, gone is the level headed character we know and love. It does feel a bit like he lost a few braincells for just a moment so that some tension could be created for the episode.

There is some justification for it though, as Mukaido’s family was threatened. Him being a family man has been well established, so it makes sense from that front. So perhaps in that light, the conflict does feel a bit more natural.

Revel gets a promotion

The frustration and desperation that both Saki and Revel feel come to a head in Platinum End episode 10. Saki has been waiting for roughly a day for her friends to return. Given that they haven’t, she and Revel worry about the worst case scenario.

Feeling guilty for not being able to give Saki wings of her own, Revel does one thing that angels never do. He sheds tears for Saki. The overwhelming emotion he feels causes him to cry for his God candidate.

Revel doing this gets him promoted. He becomes the angel of emotion, and thus can finally provide Saki the wings she needs to join the battle. It’s a nice moment for Revel, who has definitely been one of the more compelling characters in the show so far. He started off being a bit of a cocky guy, but has developed to show that he really does care for Saki and what happens to her. It’s nice to see overall, and is one of Platinum End’s stronger points this season.

Seductive Saki

With Saki now a player in the battle, she must figure out a way to bail out Mukaido and Mirai. Using her new powers, she seems to have figured out a way to do just that.

She shoots Hajime with a red arrow from a safe distance. Hajime, who has chosen to be Metropoliman’s devout follower, is torn by this. He gets ready to spill the beans to Metropoliman, but this is when Saki hits him with a double whammy. Equipped with her new catgirl armor, she dials the charm up to a hundred. She flirtatiously steps out of the shadows, putting a finger to her lips as she blushes.

Hajime is overwhelmed by Saki’s cuteness. However, the episode ends before it’s revealed what Hajime does in that situation.

It’s honestly quite hilarious to see Saki attempt to charm Hajime in this way. Hey, it turns out that Mukaido’s catgirl design does have its merits. But whether or not it’s enough to save her friends, viewers will have to wait until next week to find out.
