Date a Live Cast Picks Favorite Scenes in Anime So Far

The cast of the Date a Live anime picked their favorite scene from the series so far (seasons 1-3). The results were divided by seasons and presented as in 3 videos, with different cast members explaining their favorites and the reasoning behind them. The event was a part of the 10th-anniversary celebration, which also includes the “Best of Date” fan poll. The results of the fan poll will be revealed at the Fantasia Bunko Online Festival 2022 on March 13.

Season 1 – Nobunaga Shimazaki, Marina Inoue, Ayane Taketatsu, and Iori Nomizu

The scenes that were included in the video were picked by Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shido Itsuka), Marina Inoue (Tohka Yatogami), Ayana Taketatsu (Kotori Itsuka), and Iori Nomizu (Yoshino).

Nobunaga Shimazaki’s (Shido Itsuka) favorite scenes include sealing Yoshino’s power in episode 5 – “Freezing Ground“, and the bestowing the name Tohka to the spirit called “Princess” in episode 2 – “Close Re-encounter“. He also has a favorite scene in episode 9 – “Raging Nightmare” (although the clip shown was from the third season).

For Marina Inoue (Tohka Yatogami), it’s the scene in episode 3 – “The Sword That Splits the Sky“, where Thoka and Shido first kiss. She also loves the scene where Shido gave her the name Tohka, like Mr. Nobunaga.

The best scenes for Ayana Taketatsu (Kotori Itsuka) include the kiss in episode 12 – “Things You Can’t Give Up”, Tohka’s date invitation in episode 3, and the part in which Kotori reveals that she is a commander of Ratatoskr in the first episode.

Iori Nozumu has two favorite scenes in episode 12. The first one was when she interrupted Shido and Tohka’s kiss, while the other one was when she fought alongside Tohka against Origami. She also likes her introduction scene in episode 4 – “Unhappy Rain“.

Season 2 – Maaya Uchida, Sarah Emi Bridcutt, and Minori Chihara

Maaya Uchida (Kaguya Yamai), Sarah Emi Bridcutt (Yuzuru Yamai), and Minori Chihara (Miku Izayoi) talked about their favorites in the second season.

Maaya Uchida likes two different scenes in episode 4 – “Manifestation“. The part in which she admits that she wants to live with Yuzuru forever, and the scene where she fights Yuzuru for the final time. She also loves a scene in episode 3 – “Two Wishes“, in which she asks Shido to choose Yuzuru over her.

Sarah Emi Bridcutt’s (Yuzuru Yamai) favorite scenes include stage performance in episode 6 – “Girls Music“, competition with Kaguya in episode 2 “Children of the Storm“, and the part when she and Kaguya decide to end their battle in episode 4.

For Minori Chihara (Miku Izayoi), it’s Tohka watching Miku’s performance in episode 5 – “Diva“. and Miku trying to control Shiori’s mind. She also likes the part when she opened up her heart to Shido in episode 10 – “Inversion“.

Season 3 – Misuzu Togashi, Ayumi Mano, and Asami Sanada

When it comes to the third season, Misuzu Togashi (Origami Tobiichi), Ayumi Mano (Natsumi Kyouno), and Asami Sanada (Kurumi Tokisaki) picked their favorite scenes.

For Misuzu Togashi, Origami kidnapping Shido was the highlight of episode 6 – “Crossroads“. She also likes the scene in which Origami transforms into an inverse spirit in episode 10, and also the scene in the following episode “Angel of the Starry Night” in which Shido seals Origami’s powers.

The best scenes for Ayumi Mano (Natsumi Kyouno) were the part when

Yoshino and Shido’s date in episode 2 – “Can You Find Me?”, was picked as a favorite by Ayumi Mano. She also loved seeing Origami reach Shido’s hand in episode 11, and Natsumi opening up her heart in episode 5 – “Despair Comes Crashing Down“.

Asami Sanada’s favorite scene can be found in episode 8 – “Demon King of Descending Darkness“, in which she helps Shido travel back in time. She also loves two different scenes in episode 9 – “Tengu City, Five Years Ago“: the part where her past self meets the future Shido and the scene where the future Shido visited her present self to tell her the solution to their problem.

About Date a Live

Date a Live was originally a light novel series written by Koshi Tachibana with Tsunako’s illustrations, serialized in Fujimi Shobo from 2011 to 2020. The light novel series concluded with 22 volumes, and Yen Press licensed it in English.

The series received an anime adaptation by studio AIC Plus+ in 2013. and it had a total of 12 episodes and an OVA. The second season aired in 2014, under Production IMS, a studio that also produced the Date A Live Movie: Mayuri Judgment in 2015. In 2019, the franchise came back with season 3, but this time under studio J.C. Staff. Even though the franchise changed studios often, Keitaro Motanaga stayed on as the director.

Two new movies titled Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet and Date A Bullet: Nightmare or Queen premiered in 2020. The movie adapted the Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet spin-off light novel. Studio Geek Toys animated them, under Jun Nakagawa’s direction. The same studio and director are also working on the fourth season of the series, which is premiering on April 8, 2022.

Date a Live Synopsis

April 10. The first day of school. Shido Itsuka is rudely awoken by his personal alarm clock—his little sister. It’s shaping up to be another typical day…well, as typical as it gets on a planet plagued by massive spatial quakes. Little does Shido know, however, his life is about to take a sudden turn when he encounters the source of this destructive phenomenon—a girl his age, apparently known as a Spirit. Turns out, there are only two ways he can stop her from unleashing hell on the world: Eliminate her by force or placate her…by taking her out on a date and making her fall in love with him!
