One Piece Film Red Gets Philippine Theatrical Release in September

The upcoming One Piece Film Red is getting a Philippine theatrical release this September. According to anime licensing company Odex PH, the film will have a fan screening on September 17-18. SM Cinema, one of the largest theater chains in the country, has now also confirmed the theatrical release of the film in September, although no exact dates have been given. They previously teased the film’s local release in a Facebook post a week prior the formal announcement.

SM Cinema has released several anime films in the Philippines, including Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Sword Art Online: Progressive.

The One Piece Film Red premieres on August 6 in Japan. Crunchyroll will be bringing the movie to select theaters in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand this fall. Goro Taniguchi is directing it, while Masayuki Sato serves as the chief animation director and character designer. Meanwhile, Hiroshi Kato will do both the art design and art direction.

The movie recently released a second trailer which features Five Elders, the admirals Akainu, Fujitora and Kizaru, Shanks, and more:

The official website describes the film’s plot as:
The story takes place on an island where Uta, the world’s favorite diva, performs for the first time in public. Uta’s singing voice, which she sings with while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly,” and while the venue is filled with the Straw Hats led by Luffy, pirates, navy, and fans from all over the world who have come to enjoy her voice, Uta’s voice is heard in a new light. The curtain rises on the story with the shocking revelation that she is “Shanks’ daughter!“
