Sword Art Online Anime Reveals a Visual by Shingo Adachi for 10th Anniversary

Sword Art Online anime is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and as part of the celebrations, a key visual by character designer Shingo Adachi was revealed (above). Adachi is currently directing the original TV anime Lycoris Recoil, which also shares the studio with Sword Art Online anime: A-1 Pictures. Azusa Sasaki (color designer for Lycoris Recoil) is credited for coloring, alongside Hiromu Oshiro, who did the 2D finishing.

In addition to the visual by Shingo Adachi, it was revealed that Luna Haruna will be joining the lineup of the upcoming Sword Art Online: FULL DIVE event, which is scheduled for November 6 of this year. The event is meant to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series. Luna Haruna’s “Overfly” was used as the second ending theme for the first season of the anime series. She also performed “Startear” for the second season and her songs can also be found in some of the Sword Art Online games (Lost Song, Hollow Realization, Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight).

Sword Art Online anime is based on the light novels by Reki Kawahara. The latest installment of the TV anime series was Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld: Part II, which aired in the summer of 2020. A separate movie series, which focuses on the Sword Art Online: Progressive light novels is also currently ongoing, with the second movie that is set to release this fall.
