BL anime Ten Count finally has a format and a release date: theatrical anime (meaning it will be screened in cinemas) with a 2023 premiere date. The adaptation of Rihito Takarai’s story was first set to have a TV premiere in 2020 but was delayed because the staff wanted to further develop the direction of the story. A teaser visual has been revealed and staff information have been revealed:
EAST FISH STUDIO and SynergySP are in charge of the animation. So Toyama is writing the script and directing, while Tomomi Shimazaki is in charge of the character designs. The cast has also been revealed:
- Shinnosuke Tachibana as Tadaomi Shirotani
- Tomoaki Maeno as Riku Kurose
The Ten Count manga was serialized from 2013 to 2017 in Shinshokan’s Dear+ magazine. It ended with 46 chapters, compiled into six volumes. Viz Media’s SuBLime published the entirety of the manga in English and describes the plot as:
Corporate secretary Shirotani suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. One day he meets Kurose, a therapist who offers to take him through a ten-step program to cure him of his compulsion. As the two go through each of the ten steps, Shirotani’s attraction to his counselor grows.
Ten Count was also featured in the short 6 Lovers web anime.
