The upcoming Collar x Malice -deep cover- anime film has released the key visual, as well as information on additional cast members. The first part will premiere in the early summer of 2023. Studio DEEN will be animating it, with Avex Pictures as the distributor.
The new cast members include Kaede Hondo as Ichika Hoshino and Katsuyuki Konishi as an original character named Mitsuru Sowa. A character depiction of Sowa was drawn by Mai Hanamura, who is the original character designer and who also drew the key visual.
Other previously announced cast members include:
- Masakazu Morita as Aiji Yanagi
- Yuuki Kaji as Kei Okazaki
- Soma Saito as Mineo Enomoto
- Daisuke Namikawa as Takeru Sasazuka
- Ryohei Kimura as Kageyuki Shiraishi
Collar x Malice visual novel was developed by Idea Factory, under the Otomate brand. It was first released in Japan in 2016 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita. It was then released by Aksys Games in 2017 for North America and Europe and it received a Nintendo Switch release in 2020.
Aksys Game lists Collar x Malice with the following synopsis:
A dangerous shadow organization launches a campaign of fear and violence in the city of Shinjuku, pushing society to the brink of chaos. As a young police officer tasked with restoring order, you become the target of an attack, and have a poisonous collar attached to your neck. With the situation spiraling out of control and time running out, five mysterious strangers appear to aid you in your quest for the truth. Who can you trust? Will you be able to save yourself and the soul of Shinjuku from the clutches of oblivion? In a city bound by malice, you are the only hope for salvation!
