Måneskin, the popular Italian band, revealed a music video for their song “TIMEZONE” which features scenes from the BEASTARS manga series by Paru Itagaki. The band met the author last year during their tour in Japan: the lead singer Damiano is reportedly a big fan of the series.
Måneskin rose to fame after winning the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with a song titled “Zitti e Buoni.” Since then, they have had a number of hits. “TIMEPIECE” is a song from their latest album RUSH!. The band commented on the music video:
“We’re so so happy because our collaboration with BEASTARS is finally out. So our music is gonna meet the anime work. We’re very very happy with the results. And we can’t wait to show you. We really hope that you gonna enjoy.”
BEASTARS is a manga by Paru Itakagi. It started serialization in 2016 in Weekly Shounen Champion. The manga ended in 2020, after 196 chapters, compiled into 22 volumes. The BEASTARS universe also has a side-story titled Beast Complex, which focuses on different characters. The work received a successful anime adaptation by studio Orange: two seasons are available to stream on Netflix and the third one is set for next year.
Itakagi also commented on the BEASTARS’ collaboration with Måneskin:
“I was deeply moved and grateful to see the works from my hammering-away days flowing one after another over Måneskin’s music. I hope everyone enjoys the video. When you come back to Japan in December, make sure you enjoy great Japanese food. I recommend going to the izakaya (casual drinking/dining place)!“
