A Couple of Cuckoos Could Be Getting An Anime

Anime Corner Author

Another popular rom-com may be getting an anime adaptation, and it’s “A Couple of Cuckoos” (Kakkou no Iinazuke). The ‘could’ in the title is because it’s not official, but only based on the fact that a web domain has been registered. The domain is “cuckoos-anime.com“. The manga is extremely popular in Japan, and you can check out the volume 1 cover:

A Couple of Cuckoos anime - volume 1 cover of the manga
Volume 1 cover of A Couple of Cuckoos. Published by Kodansha. Weekly Shonen Magazine.

You can also read the synopsis of the story:

16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Meguro River Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!

Miki Yoshikawa draws and illustrates the manga. It first got a one-shot in September 2019, and started serialization in January of 2020. That means it’s only been running for a little over a year! It runs in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, and it has 4 compilation volumes as of November 2020.

We already got a bunch of romantic comedy anime announcements recently. Fans of the genre will surely appreciate if A Couple of Cuckoos also gets an anime soon as well! However, noting again that no official news have confirmed it yet, and we only have a web domain to go on at the moment.

You can find more of anime and manga announcements and other news right here.
