A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace anime revealed a new key visual along with two additional cast members, and an October 6 premiere date on Thursday. Saori Hayami and Sumire Uesaka are joining the cast as Yuzuki Hazama and Nagomi Hayachine, respectively. The rest of the cast includes:
- Yuko Natsuyoshi as Nana Futami
- Sora Amamiya as Kaede Satou
- Miku Ito as Mizuki Hazama
- Yu Kobayashi as Arisa Nashida
- Eriko Matsui as Toko Nodate
- Miharu Hanai as Nekonote
Based on a manga series written and illustrated by Kuzushiro, studio Voil is animating the anime adaptation with Kaoru Suzuki as director. Mio Inoue is handling the series composition, while Kana Miyai is doing the character designs. Kei Haneoka and Hironori Doi are composing the music. The anime’s latest trailer was released last July, which includes the opening theme song by HoneyWorks ft. HaKoniwalily titled “Zettai Shosan,” while the ending theme song “Thankful” is sung by Sizuk.
The story follows Futami, a rookie shojo manga artist who has been able to start publishing her dream shogi manga, “Subaru e,” with the help of her cool editor and reliable assistant. However, struggling with stomachaches, looming deadlines, and storyboard blocks, she finds herself stuck at her desk, indulging in late-night snacks and spiraling into wild delusions.
The manga was initially published as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss josei manga magazine in February 2019, while its serialization started on Kodansha’s Comic Days manga website in May 2019.
