Alice in Borderland Season 3 revealed the first trailer, along with a new poster, cast, and a September 25 Netflix release date. The season was announced in September 2023, with director Shinsuke Sato and main stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya all confirmed to be returning.
New cast additions include Koji Okura, Sakura Kiryu, Risa Sudo, Kotaro Daigo, Tina Tamashiro, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Hyunri, and Kento Kaku. Netflix describes the story:
After Usagi is abducted and left unconscious by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife, Arisu returns to the perilous “Borderland” to save her. Teaming up with new players, they must face the yet-unseen “Joker” stage in a desperate bid to find a way back to their original world.
Joker had already been teased for the new season, and it’s clear the card will be the key factor for the final part of the live-action adaptation. You can see the new poster below.
The original Alice in Borderland manga by Haro Aso ran from November 2010 to March 2016, and it ended with 64 chapters over 18 compilation volumes. The first season of the live-action covered around 31 chapters in 8 episodes, while the second covered the rest of the main story (making some changes, such as excluding some games, not showing Joker and instead teasing him as a card, etc.).
There was also direct sequel to the manga by the author titled Alice in Borderland Retry, where the protagonist Ryohei Arisu found himself in Borderland again and has to go through more deadly games 8 years after the events of the original. It was compiled in two volumes.
