AlphaPolis Acquires WHITE FOX, Studio Behind Re:ZERO and Steins;Gate

AlphaPolis has announced the acquisition of all shares of anime studio WHITE FOX, making it a wholly owned subsidiary as of July 31, 2025. The decision was approved at a board meeting held the same day.

The acquisition forms part of AlphaPolis’ mid-term strategy to expand its anime business. According to the company’s official statement, integrating a production studio into the group will enable more efficient and consistent adaptation of in-house IPs.

Founded in 2007 and based in Tokyo, WHITE FOX is known for titles like Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Steins;Gate, Goblin Slayer, The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, and Akame ga Kill.

AlphaPolis, originally a digital-first publisher, has increasingly shifted toward multi-platform development. In addition to books, the company has pursued anime, games, and merchandise based on its catalog of web novels and manga.

In its official statement, AlphaPolis cites industry-wide shortages of skilled animators and high-quality production studios as a driving factor in its decision. The company stated that acquiring WHITE FOX would allow it to “construct an internal system for visual production,” and enable “high-quality anime adaptations of its IP using WHITE FOX’s technical capabilities.”

The company outlined three main goals for the acquisition:

  • Increase awareness of its company and works
  • Accelerate the animation of its IP
  • Attract new fans, including from overseas, through high-quality visuals

Recent AlphaPolis titles adapted into anime include:

  • GATE (Season 2 recently announced)
  • TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy- (Season 3 in production)
  • Re:Monster
  • THE NEW GATE
  • A Playthrough of a Certain Dude’s VRMMO Life
  • Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time
  • New Saga

Some of the most notable WHITE FOX anime include:

  • Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- (Season 4 set for 2026)
  • Steins;Gate
  • Goblin Slayer
  • Is the Order a Rabbit?
  • Katanagatari
  • The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
  • The Devil Is a Part-Timer!

The companies have not disclosed financial details related to the acquisition.
