Previously, short trailers were released for Ichigo & his friends, the Sternritter and the Gotei 13, and the anime made its return after 10 years last monday. The anime is airing internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu in the US, and it will have a total of four cours, although they will not be consecutive (won’t air season after season). Studio Pierrot is in charge of the production, with Tomohisa Taguchi as the director.
Studio Pierrot previously produced the original TV anime adaptation of Tite Kubo’s BLEACH manga, which aired between October 2004 and March 2012 with a total of 366 episodes. VIZ Media licensed it in English, and they describe the BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War story:
The peace is suddenly broken when warning sirens blare through the Soul Society. Residents there are disappearing without a trace and nobody knows who’s behind it, meanwhile, a dark shadow is also extending itself toward Ichigo and his friends in Karakura Town…
