BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War character designer Masashi Kudo revealed that Part 4 – The Calamity will have characters never featured in Tite Kubo’s original manga series. When asked what scenes or parts he’s particularly looking forward to working on, Kudo replied in a message shared at Anime Expo 2025:

“Up until now… And this was the case up until this part, but with the anime-only scenes… For example, Sensei may have had a scene in mind, but didn’t include it in the manga. This time, we’ll have more of those kinds of scenes. Those new aspects. I think they’re something to get excited about. I think even those who’ve read BLEACH back in Jump, even they will have some new discoveries to look forward to. Like new characters. Yes, you’ll definitely get to see some of them.“
Kudo’s reveal joins the new BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Cour 4 key visual and comments from the staff, including Kubo, who said, “I think many fans were expecting it to air this year, and I’m sorry to say it will be next year instead. Please wait just a little bit longer until then. I believe we can make it something truly great.” Kubo previously teased original content, continuing the pattern from earlier cours.
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Cour 4 drops in 2026. Disney+ streams all cours and the original anime. Hikaru Murata continues as series director under chief director Tomohisa Taguchi. BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War is officially described:
When a new enemy appears, Substitute Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki jumps back into the battlefield with his Zanpakuto to help those in need.
The latest information on the upcoming BLEACH anime is expected at Jump Victory Carnival ’25 on July 13. Although, it may be a rehash of what was already revealed at Anime Expo.
