Nexon’s anime-style tactical RPG Blue Archive is now available on Steam, marking the game’s debut on PC after several years as a mobile-exclusive title. The Steam version launched on July 8 and has received a “Very Positive” user rating, with over 10,000 reviews to date.

Originally released for mobile platforms, Blue Archive is set in the city of Kivotos, where players act as an advisor to the organization S.C.H.A.L.E. The game combines turn-based tactical combat with a story-driven structure and character-building mechanics, centered around students from various academies.

The Steam release includes all previously available content and maintains cross-platform consistency, letting both returning and new players access the full gameplay experience on PC.

Anime Expo 2025 Panel

Coinciding with the Steam launch, Nexon hosted a major Blue Archive panel at Anime Expo 2025 titled “Blue Archive: Dev Talk Live at AX 2025.” The session served as both a retrospective and a forward-looking presentation. Key development staff was present: Executive Producer Yongha Kim, Studio Producer Gyeongseop An, and Music Director Mitsukiyo. They offered insights into the game’s evolving direction, narrative ambitions, and player engagement strategies.

The panel began with a look back at fan-favorite updates over the past year:

  • “-ive aLIVE!” Event: This music-themed event reimagined the After School Sweets Club as a band, introducing new costumes and stage designs. Student Kazusa took center stage in the event’s story, and the original track “Colorful Canvas” (composed by Mitsukiyo) was well-received.
  • “Serenade Promenade”: Focused on an unexpected idol collaboration between Trinity’s Justice Task Force and Rescue Knights, the event explored themes of unity across ideological divides. The theme song “Tomodachi One-Step” was highlighted.
  • “Sheside Outside”: The Arius Squad, typically associated with darker storylines, was given a lighter, character-building storyline centered on a peaceful summer vacation.

Following the retrospective, the team previewed upcoming content, headlined by the next major event, “Code: BOX – The Shadow Approaching Millennium.” This event introduces a new storyline involving a secret infiltration of the Millennium EXPO, along with new playable characters:

  • Seia (3★, Piercing-Type STRIKER): Reduces an ally’s EX Skill cost and improves cost recovery.
  • Asuna (School) (3★, Explosive-Type STRIKER): Increases her own and a special unit’s attack.
  • Rio (3★, Mystic-Type SPECIAL): Copies an ally’s EX Skill card and boosts their attack.
  • Neru (School) (3★, Piercing-Type STRIKER): Enters a Duel state with enhanced damage mechanics and gains an EX Skill.

The update also sees the return of Hanako (Swimsuit), a previously featured character.

No specific release date has been given for the event, but further announcements are expected soon. The game is available on Steam for free. The game also inspired an anime titled Blue Archive: The Animation, which aired from April to June 2024.
