As previously announced by Pioneer Films, the Cells at Work live-action movie is set to premiere in the Philippines on January 29, 2025. Mei Nagano stars as the Red Blood Cell alongside Takeru Satoh as the White Blood cell. 

The Cells at Work live-action movie, which runs for 2 hours and 24 minutes, will be released exclusively by SM Cinema nationwide. Tickets can be purchased via the SM Cinema app, website, and ticket booths.

The live-action follows the events of the anime, which Crunchyroll describes:

Hideki Takeuchi is directing the film, and the script is by Yuichi Tokunaga. The cast includes:

  • Wakana Matsumoto as Macrophage
  • Maika Pugh as Platelet
  • Shota Sometani – Helper T Cell
  • Kyoko Fukada – Hepatocyte (Liver Cell)
  • Rihito Itagaki – Rookie Red Blood Cell
  • Ryo Kato – Senior Red Blood Cell
  • Seishiro Kato – Takeda Arata
  • Ainosuke Kataoka – Streptococcus Pneumoniae (Pneumonia Coccus)
  • Shinya Niiro – Streptococcus Pyogenes
  • Maju Ozawa – Staphylococcus Aureus
  • Fukase (from SEKAI NO OWARI) – A mysterious character

Cells at Work is a Japanese manga by Akane Shimizu. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine from 2015 to 2021. David Production was in charge of the anime adaptation in 2018 which had two seasons and a total of 21 episodes. The series also received a stageplay adaptation, multiple spin-off manga, and a spin-off anime by studio LIDEN FILMS. The live-action movie was released in December 2024.
