Chained Soldier Season 2 has announced the new director and character designer, following the studio change announcement from earlier this month. The news were made after a special event for the anime that was held today in Japan, which featured the main cast with the addition of Maaya Uchida (voice of Tenka Izumo). The new key staff members include:
- Director: Tamura Masafumi (taking over from Kuji Goro)
- Character designer: Nakano Keiya (taking over from Yoshii Hiroyuki)
Tamura Masafumi previously directed The World`s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat and Wise Man`s Grandchild, while some other character design credits from Nakano Keiya include Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue and Keijo!!!!!!!!
Studio Seven Arcs animated the first season of the Chained Soldier anime, while studio Passione was announced for the second season. Anime Corner also had the special opportunity to interview voice actor Yuya Hirose and producer Yuki Watanabe to talk about the anime, which is streaming on HIDIVE.
Chained Soldier (Mato Seihei no Slave) is originally a manga series written by Takahiro (Akame Ga Kill author), with illustrations by Yohei Takemura. The manga has been serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online platform since January 2019. Yen Press is publishing the manga in English, and they describe the story:
Decades ago, gates to an otherworldly and dangerous dimension known as Mato—the “Demon City”—appeared across Japan. Those who partook in the “peaches” growing there gained unique abilities—but only if they’re girls. When down-in-the-dumps high school boy Yuuki Wakura finds himself caught up in a gate, he’s saved by Kyouka Uzen, the beautiful commander of the 7th squad of the Demon Defense Force, who…orders him to become her slave?!
