Boys’ love anime Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! is set for a January 2024 release date after the anime adaptation was revealed earlier this year alongside a teaser visual. The anime series centers on Kiyoshi Adachi, who after 30 years of virginity develops esper-like powers. Check out the new trailer below:
Additional cast members have also been announced. Makoto Furukawa (Shorei Nouzen from 86) voices Masato Tsuge, Gen Sato (Tomozaki, Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki) plays Minato Wataya. They join the previously announced cast of Chiaki Kobayashi (Moriarty the Patriot) as Kiyoshi Adachi and Ryota Suzuki (Kaguya-sama: Love is War), who voices Yuichi Kurosawa.

Yuu Toyota’s Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! debuted in Square Enix’s Gangan Pixiv in 2018 and has been collected into 12 volumes. The popular manga has inspired a live-action TV series and film and was among the most desired manga to receive a Japanese adaptation in AnimeJapan’s 2022 poll. Cherry Magic! has received widespread praise for its comedy and positive depiction of same-sex relationships.
Penguin Random House, the English distributor for the series’ English release by Square Enix, describes the plot as:
It’s complicated: A thirty-year-old virgin gets more than he bargained for when his newfound magical power reveals he’s the object of his male coworker’s affections!
Gifted (cursed?) at the age of 30 with the ability to read the mind of whomever he touches (even the coworker with the hots for him!), virginal businessman-turned-wizard Adachi is taking his first tentative steps into love! After being wooed within an inch of his life by the tenacious Kurosawa, Adachi is at last on board with his feelings for his handsome, kind colleague and has come around to the idea of Kurosawa as his very first significant other. But now that the pair are officially an item, Kurosawa is chomping at the bit to do all the couple stuff he’s been dreaming about, including dating! There’s just one little problem: Adachi, the 30-year-old virgin, has never even been on a date!
