Cherry Magic Anime Announces Theatrical Release

The official website of the recently concluded Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! anime announced that the series is receiving a theatrical edited release in the Japanese theaters this year. No further details were revealed in the announcement, though it unveiled a teaser visual. The anime aired every Thursday from January 11, 2024, to March 28, 2024.

Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard!? is based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Yuu Toyota. The manga series has received several adaptations, including a Japanese drama CD, a Chinese radio drama, and Japanese and Thai live-action series, all of which were well-received. A Japanese live-action film also served as a sequel to its Japanese live-action series. An anime adaptation by the animation studio Satelight was first announced in July 2023. The voice cast includes:

  • Chiaki Kobayashi as Kiyoshi Adachi
  • Ryota Suzuki as Yuichi Kurosawa
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Asahina
  • Ami Koshimizu as Nozomi Fujisaki
  • You Taichi as Mari Kurosawa
  • Yusuke Shirai as Yuta Rokkaku
  • Makoto Furukawa as Tsuge Masato
  • Gen Sato as Minato Wataya

The manga originated as a 4-page comic posted on Toyota’s X (formerly Twitter) and Pixiv accounts in January 2018. Following an offer for a publishing deal through X, the chapters were subsequently compiled into thirteen tankobon volumes by Square Enix. It is also the first boys’ love series Square Enix has ever published.

Crunchyroll is streaming the anime and describing the story as:
Adachi’s 30th birthday as a virgin came with the oddest gift—the ability to read the mind of anyone he touches. Pondering what to do with this mysterious power, he gets a lead when he accidentally reads his colleague Kurosawa’s mind. Turns out the handsome hotshot of the sales team has got a thing for him! How will Adachi respond to overhearing these affectionate thoughts?
