The Apothecary Diaries Manga Artist Reveals Brain Aneurysm Diagnosis, Says There's No Immediate Danger

Nekokurage, the artist of The Apothecary Diaries manga, shared with fans that doctors discovered a brain aneurysm following persistent headaches. “I’ve been suffering from headaches for a long time and lately they’ve been particularly bad,” he said, “so I went to the hospital the other day and they found a brain aneurysm💦. But it doesn’t seem to be in immediate danger or anything, so I’m fine! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn’t rupture or get bigger!” A brain aneurysm refers to “a bulge in a blood vessel caused by a weakness in the blood vessel wall, usually where it branches.” (NHS)

Nekokurage recently celebrated the anime’s second season announcement, in addition to the entire The Apothecary Diaries series surpassing 33 million copies in circulation – 16 million of these for the Square Enix version. He illustrates this while original author Natsu Hyuga writes the manga alongside Itsuki Nanao. Though she yearns for life outside its perfumed halls, she isn’t long for a life of drudgery! Using her wits to break a “curse” afflicting the imperial heirs, Maomao attracts the attentions of the handsome eunuch Jinshi and is promoted to attendant food taster. But Jinshi has other plans for the erstwhile apothecary, and soon Maomao is back to brewing potions and…solving mysteries?!
