Shunsaku Tomose, the illustrator of Classroom of the Elite light novel, posted an illustration of Kikyo Kushida in a Christmas costume on Saturday. The post came with an emoji of a Christmas tree as a caption. Yurika Kubo voiced the character in the anime adaptation.
Shogo Kinugasa is writing the story of Classroom of the Elite light novels with art by Shunsaku Tomose. The series is currently being published by Kadokawa under the light novel brand MF Bunko J. Volume 1 was released in May 2015 and the series concluded Year 1 with Volume 11.5 in September 2019. The Year 2 series is ongoing and it released the latest, eighth volume in October 2022. Year 1 received an anime adaptation and aired from July to September 2017. However, the full story from the light novels was not covered. In February 2022, it was announced that the anime’s second and third seasons will cover the remaining part of the story. Studio Lerche is animating both; the second season aired from July to September 2022, and the third is set to release sometime in 2023.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light and describes the plot of the debut volume as:
Students of the prestigious Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School are given remarkable freedom—if they can win, barter, or save enough points to work their way up the ranks! Ayanokouji Kiyotaka has landed at the bottom in the scorned Class D, where he meets Horikita Suzune, who’s determined to rise up the ladder to Class A. Can they beat the system in a school where cutthroat competition is the name of the game?
