Cool Cosplays We Saw at the Philippines’ 2022 Anime Convention Scene

2022 was a special year in the Philippines because many anime conventions made a comeback and a lot of people were finally able to physically attend and even cosplay again. We at Anime Corner had the pleasure of joining in on the fun-- from Cosplay Carnival in May, to Anime and Cosplay Expo and CONQuest Festival in July, Cosplay Mania in September, and finally, to Cosplay Matsuri in December. The year was very lively and looking back we decided to create a look-back gallery, with some of the most iconic looks that you may have missed, as well as our favorite and memorable cosplays that deserve the spotlight. Cosplay Carnival (April 30-May 1, 2022) Cosplay Carnival, or CosCarni for short, was the event that started it all for us and for everyone. And yes, this gallery features Kirby as the star! Moving on, our next event in the Philippines after CosCarni was the Anime and Cosplay Expo! Read more on the next page. Anime and Cosplay Expo (July 17-18, 2022) Anime and Cosplay Expo (ACX) was the second event of the Cosplay Mania series that took place right after the halfway mark of the year. Here are some of the crowd favorites that I particularly loved: Hey hey hey Me: Scaramouche, would you do the FandangoCoser: If he comes home, yes (I hope you got Wanderer!) Low-cost cosplay as commission icons Yae Miko and Klee that doesn't exactly look like it... Chiki chiki bam bam! Insanely tall Yuri Briar This character traumatized me Here is a special shout-out to these cosplayers who had a sense of a humor with them! Their commitment to their craft was commendable and the fact that they give everyone a laugh was just awesome. Big brain cosplay Rengoku as a donut... CONQuest Festival (July 23-24, 2022) One of the main highlight events of 2022 was undoubtedly the CONQuest Festival, a pop-culture convention of gaming, technology, anime, and pop culture as a whole. A lot of con-goers, or Questers rather, attended the con in cosplay and as you can see, Genshin Impact was once again one of the top choices. Cosplay Mania (October 1-2, 2022) Cosplay Mania (CosMania) 2022, the flagship event of Cosplay.ph, was one of the highlights of the anime and cosplay community in the Philippines. Every corner of the SMX Convention Center was filled with energy! "This character can't cook" My-my order... The Archons! Bonk Mora & Primogem!! Read our event coverage article: Explosion of Creativity and Inspiration Graces Cosplay Mania 2022 The next and last in the Cosplay Mania event series in the Philippines was the Cosplay Matsuri 2022. Cosplay Matsuri (December 28-30, 2022) As the year-end festival of the Philippines, Cosplay Matsuri 2022 was indeed packed with cosplayers who brought their A-game. Some of my notable favorites that I, unfortunately, wasn't able to get a photo of, were Anya in an Akatsuki robe and Patrick Star in fishnet stockings. I would have loved for them to be included here, but alas, they were a crowd favorite and by the time I turned around, they were already gone. I can only imagine that they faded away with their music (the ominous Akatsuki theme/Rock Goofy Goober). With this in mind, I've come to realize that the most fun cosplays are always the ones you can interact with and talk about with fellow con-goers! For example, a highlight of Cosplay Matsuri was this guy who carried around a meme board of Tom (from Tom and Jerry) with the caption, "Si idol pala to. ( it's my idol.)" The internet-famous meme is so silly and this cosplay not only made my day, but it made also gave everyone else a good laugh. (Yes, he's the same person who attended ACX.) And so without further ado, let's start off with the most interesting and funny cosplays that we found at Cosplay Matsuri 2022! Don't mess with this Klee! Emergency Food Paimon! (Sweet Madame) Katheryne literally had her own podium and gave "commissions" This group cosplay is PAIN Pochita...? Dong -- This cosplayer was just ominously standing in the middle of the hall Luff-I mean, Lucy!! Precious Pikachu EXPLOOOSION- Horo Horo no mi at work Baymax! Bocchi went out!
