Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie 1 – New Tanjiro Kamado Visual Counting Down 97 Days to Premiere in Japan

Crunchyroll describes the movie:

Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.

While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.

The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.

The 2020 movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train is also getting a revival screening in Japan on May 9, 2025, which will be the first theatrical re-release of the film since its original run.

Background

Koyoharu Gotoge wrote and illustrated the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 2016 to May 2020. It ended with a total of 23 compilation volumes.

The anime adaptation by ufotable began with a 26-episode Season 1, which aired from April to September 2019. Following its huge success, the sequel movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train followed in October 2020 and arguably began the entire anime movie boom.

The movie was then re-edited and shown as part of the 18-episode Season 2, which aired from October 2021 to February 2022. The 11-episode Season 3 aired from April to June 2023, while Season 4 aired from May to June 2024 and set the stage for the endgame.

The Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy is set to begin this year, along with the sequel game titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2 coming on August 1. The fifth installment of the stage play also begins showing in Japan this month.
