The Duke of Death and His Maid is returning for its third and final season this April, as announced earlier with a teaser visual. Studio J.C. Staff is animating the anime, with Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment on CGI. The third season was announced in September of 2023, after the finale of the second season.
Yoshinobu Yamakawa directed the first two seasons of The Duke of Death and His Maid anime, with Mitsuru Kuwabata as the character designer. Hideki Shirane did the series composition. Takeshi Watanabe composed the music.
The anime is based on Koharu Inoue’s The Duke of Death and His Maid manga, which officially ended in 2022. The manga was serialized on Sunday Web Every platform, with Shogakukan publishing the volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed it in English and describes the plot as:
When the duke was a young boy, a witch made it so that any living thing he touched died. Unable to cope with such a cursed child, his family sent him away to live in an old mansion. Now a young man, his only companions are an elderly butler and his childhood friend, a buxom, blonde maid named Alice. Despite the fact that touching the duke means instant death, Alice is constantly teasing him, getting close and flirting mercilessly. But even though Alice loves to make the duke blush, her affection for him is the real deal. Can the two figure out a way to break the witch’s spell?
