“Kaikai Kitan” by Eve, which was used as the first opening theme for the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, has reached 300 million cumulative streams, based on statistics provided by Billboard Japan. The track previously ranked first on Billboard Japan’s “Most Played Songs by Japanese Artists Abroad 2021”.
The track “Kaikai Kitan” was first released on October 3, 2020, the date of the anime’s premiere. It proceeded to reach 100 million views on YouTube milestone on March 10, 2022 and surpassed 200 million on July 28, 2021.
Jujutsu Kaisen aired from October 2020 to March 2021 and was animated by animation studio MAPPA. It is available for streaming on Crunchyroll in select regions, with the following synopsis:
Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
Eve will begin a nationwide tour starting April 8, while Jujutsu Kaisen also rebroadcasts on MBS and TBS stations nationwide every Sunday at 5:00 PM JST.
