AMC Networks’ HIDIVE will bring The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie to U.S. theaters on February 16 (subtitled) and February 18 (English dub), just days after the film premieres in Japan on February 13. The theatrical event will take place across 10 cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Fairfax (VA), Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle .
Advance tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 23, with full screening details to be made available via HIDIVE and participating theaters.
This marks HIDIVE’s first-ever theatrical release tied to the franchise, following its North American streaming of both seasons. It also follows the Dangers in My Heart panel co-hosted by HIDIVE and TV Asahi at Anime Expo 2025, where the film was first teased. During the event, we also had the chance to interview the staff staff of the series, including Series Director Hiroaki Akagi and Producers Yosuke Sakurai (Shin-Ei Animation) and Kazuki Endo.
To mark today’s announcement, HIDIVE also dropped a new subtitled trailer, which Anime Corner has the exclusive opportunity to share first.
The film features a blend of key scenes from the anime’s first two seasons along with new, original animation that continues the story of Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada.
Official Synopsis (via HIDIVE)
Kyotaro Ichikawa is a painfully awkward middle school boy deep in the throes of eighth-grader syndrome, spending his days obsessed reading morbid books like The Encyclopedia of Murder and anatomical diagrams.
His quiet, isolated world is suddenly turned upside down when Anna Yamada, the classroom star, unexpectedly steps into his life.
Whether she’s casually eating rice balls in the library, humming to herself, or suddenly closing the distance between them, Yamada’s unpredictable behavior leaves Ichikawa constantly off balance. And before he knows it, she is occupying his every day thoughts.
As they spend more time together, Yamada too begins to find herself drawn to Ichikawa in ways she never expected. It’s the first time either of them has truly understood what it means to “like” someone.
Through misunderstandings and clumsy, heartfelt emotions, the distance between them slowly, but surely, begins to close.
