Fena: Pirate Princess Reveals Release Date and New Key Visual

After much anticipation, Crunchyroll finally announced the release date for their upcoming original anime. In collaboration with Adult Swim, Fena: Pirate Princess will air on August 14, 2021. The original anime series will be another addition to the Toonami lineup.

The series will start off with a two-episode premiere, similar to Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song. Luckily, fans will be able to choose between either subbed or dubbed. The studio behind Fena: Pirate princess will be Production I.G. The popular studio is most known for series such as Psycho-Pass, Ghost in a Shell, and Haikyuu!

Series director, Kazuto Nakazawa, said that the series is a “love story”. In a story with samurai, pirates, a twist of romance makes this series much more intriguing. Nakazawa was also the director and character designer for the iconic series Samurai Champloo. So fans have a lot to be excited about when it comes to staff expectations.

The series tells the tale of a young orphan girl, Fena Houtman. Fena has been raised on an Island where there is no hope of becoming anything more than chattel, to be used and discarded by soldiers of the British Empire. But Fena is more than just another powerless orphan. When her mysterious past comes knocking, Fena will break the chains of her oppressors. Her goal: forge a new identity, free of bondage, and search for a place where she can truly belong and find out the true mysteries behind a keyword “Eden.” (via Crunchyroll)
