Fermat no Ryori (Fermat’s Cuisine or Fermat’s Kitchen) is officially getting an anime adaptation. Yugo Kobayashi, the author of Aoashi, writes and draws the manga, which is serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. Kobayashi shared a comment and illustration to commemorate the announcement:
“Just like when it was adapted into a drama, I’m overwhelmed with appreciation and astonishment that this series, despite having so few volumes, was chosen once again.”
He added, “I hope that after watching the episodes late at night, many people will find themselves so hungry that they can’t resist grabbing a midnight snack!”
The story of Fermat no Ryori follows Gaku Kitada, a math prodigy who gave up on becoming a mathematician after failing to make to the school of his dreams. He meets the ambitious chef, Kai Asakura, and slowly discovers his own talents as a chef while using math to make beautiful food.
The manga has released 4 volumes since it began serialization in 2018. It exceeded 500,000 copies in circulation at the start of this year. It also got a television drama adaptation, which starred Fumiya Takahashi and Jun Shison and aired from October to December 2023.
