Arcane Season 2 and Dan Da Dan Are Among GKIDS’ Most Anticipated Licenses
As previously revealed, the highly anticipated Arcane Season 2 will be the series’ final season, announced alongside its first trailer. The season will showcase the climax and Vi and Jinx’s relationship, with the recent teasers showcasing Vi in her Enforcer’s uniform garnering major attention. The series is animated by Fortiche, which recently made headlines after its co-founder revealed that he wanted to animate the iconic Vagabond manga (per Crunchyroll). Mangazenkan data reveals that Vagabond is the best-selling series of all time to have never received an anime series, with over 82 million copies in circulation.
Dan Da Dan represents a new chapter in GKIDS’ book, with the series marking the company’s first time licensing a first-run anime TV series. The announcement that GKIDS would acquire Dan Da Dan‘s theatrical rights alongside digital download-to-own raised some eyebrows. Widely known for distributing movies such as Studio Ghibli titles — recently re-releasing Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in theaters, all was revealed in late June when GKIDS announced Dan Da Dan: First Encounter. First Encounter will showcase the series’ first three episodes in theaters worldwide.
