Guilty Gear TV Anime by Studio Sanzigen Announced

The Guilty Gear fighting game franchise has announced a TV anime adaptation titled GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULERS, with studio Sanzigen in charge of the animation. The announcement is coming over 26 years after the first game release, and the game is teased with: Behind two of the series’ most iconic characters, SOL BADGUY and SIN KISKE, is a mysterious girl… Who could she be?

The anime will be directed by Shigeru Morikawa. He previously worked as the director on Argonavis Movie: Ryusei no Obligato and Argonavis Movie: Axia. Norimitsu Kaiho (Akudama Drive) will be in charge of the series composition, while the character designer from the games, Daisuke Ishiwatari, is also credited for the original character design for the anime. Studio Sanzingen is known for its work in CG animation, and its previous work includes the original music video for the protagonist Sol Badguy’s theme song “Find Your One Way.”

Guilty Gear was created and designed by Daisuke Ishiwatari. The first game was developed by Arc System Works in 1998 for the PlayStation. The latest game in the series is the one sharing the title with the anime adaptation, Guilty Gear: Strive,. It was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC in June 2021, followed by Xbox One and Series X/S in March 2023.
