Honkai Star Rail Animation Project by MAPPA Reveals Concept Trailer

Honkai: Star Rail X MAPPA original animation project revealed a concept trailer, which is titled “Death in the Afternoon.” Not many details were shared about the project, with only the director and character designer revealed. The project is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, known as the director of Death Parade, Mob Psycho 100, and Deca-Dence. Kayoko Ishikawa (ZENSHU character designer) is behind the character designs.

Originally released in 2023, Honkai: Star Rail has surpassed 150 million downloads worldwide across PC, mobile, PlayStation 5, and Epic Games Store. Honkai: Star Rail also announced that its next update, Version 4.2 “So Laughed the Masses,” will launch on April 22, introducing new story content, playable characters, and a set of anniversary rewards for the game’s third year.
