Arcane Season 2 released on Netflix today, marking the end of the series as that was the final chapter. I wrote a review where I explained why I found it unsatisfying despite the obvious quality of the production. Still, here’s a separate theory as to how Jinx may have survived the end of Arcane, despite me not liking the vagueness of it.
How Jinx Could Make it Out Alive at the End of Arcane
First, I believe it would just be very unfair to have Jinx die at the end. She had wanted to off herself anyway, and Ekko had to go back in time dozens of times to prevent it. He succeeded and she ended up saving everyone, and, even then, she willingly took the plunge to save her sister. It can pass as a more noble sacrifice, but it still feels like she deserved more as a character (and she was on a promising path to get some actual redemption).
The first moment that gives us copium is the small pink line that looks a lot like Jinx using shimmer to move quickly. How she could manage to get away from Warwick after the bomb going off is a mystery, though we can imagine it was Vander once again breaking through and letting his daughter go. It’s also possible that Jinx could just do it herself and that this was her way to ‘walk away’ to break the cycle as Silco taught her.
Another thing that was interesting was Caitlyn holding the part of the grenade while looking at a map of the building and showing us the part where we can see ‘air ducts.’ It doesn’t seem implausible that this was a hint that Jinx survived, especially considering the title of the episode was “The Dirt Under Your Nails” (which Vi namedrops just a few seconds later to her).
Finally, the last and most hopeful piece of cope is the throwback to the very first scene of Powder. She said that she would one day ride in one of those blimps that we see, and the finale of Arcane Season 2 ends with a scene of the exact same blimp flying away.
You can see the blimp from the final episode below for comparison.
So Did Jinx Survive at the End of Arcane Season 2?
The answer is: best we can do is think of it as an open ending and believe that she did survive if we got attached (as I did). I personally do believe that Jinx survived and that there are enough hints to justify that opinion.
What did you think of Arcane and its Season 2 finale? Do you think Jinx, Jayce and Victor all survived at the end of Arcane? Let us know!
