Sawako Hirabayashi is in charge of the series composition and script, while Narihito Sekikawa will be doing the character designs. The anime adaptation of If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student was announced last March, alongside the final volume of the manga series. The manga by Yayu Murata released the final, 14th volume on March 16, 2023, ending the four-year run (it debuted in 2018, with the first volume released in April 2019). It was serialized in Houbunsha’s Weekly Manga Times magazine and had a total of 111 chapters.
The plot follows a single father whose wife died, leaving him alone with their daughter. One day he meets a reincarnation of his wife – but she is an elementary school student. The story explores loss and complicated feelings of moving on after losing a loved one.
