Japanese Girl Announces Marriage to Yoichi Isagi From Blue Lock

A Japanese girl recently announced her marriage to Yoichi Isagi from BLUE LOCK, posting photos from her ceremony, showing off her ring and posing with a life-size cutout of the character.

The TikTok account’s first video was a celebration of Isagi’s birthday on April 1, after which there were a few more videos celebrating the character before the symbolic ‘wedding’ that followed on December 24.

Prior to the ‘wedding,’ she also shared a post on the day of the fitting, November 2, which showed her trying on the dress she would eventually wear on the day of.

The account’s name is “kitsuba 41,” with kitsuba (a traditional Japanese sweet) being officially listed as Isagi’s favorite food. Its description has Isagi’s quote “Move for the sake of my goal” and that the account holds great admiration for the player wearing jersey number 11.

The latest post from the account is from December 27 (a day before the finale and Isagi’s winning goal), sharing a Christmas and wedding cake that ‘took over 4 hours’ to make. She also made a follow-up post on X (formerly Twitter), where she apologized to everyone who thought it was an official wedding and addressed concerns of marrying a minor.

This isn’t the first time a fan announced a symbolic marriage to a fictional character. One of the most famous cases was in 2018, when Akihiko Kondo announced his marriage to Hatsune Miku.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro writes the BLUE LOCK manga, with art by Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English. The story follows BLUE LOCK, the project to create the ultimate egoistical striker that will take Japan to a World Cup trophy.
