In a recent interview, Chad Stahelski, the director of the famous John Wick movie series, hinted that a John Wick anime project is in the works. Stahelski mentioned that he’s a fan of Japanese anime, and the amount of stories they can achieve with an anime series will be very cool. He also said that they’re working with Lionsgate to develop a television series, and they’re very excited about it.
The John Wick franchise focuses on a retired hitman, played by Keanu Reeves, grieving his late wife. He is forced to return to the world of crime after a thug steals his car and murders his cherished dog. He engages in a relentless killing rampage, taking on other lethal assassins before facing off against a formidable crime boss in a decisive battle. There have been a total of four movies in the series and the latest part, John Wick: Chapter 4, was released earlier this year in March. A sequel is in development – initially, it was set to release with the fourth installment but was ultimately pushed back.
Earlier this year, another fan-favorite franchise, Suicide Squad, also announced that it will be receiving an anime project. WIT Studio and Warner Bros. Japan are working on the anime.
