Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel movie of the popular franchise, and the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc revealed a recap video that will be available on YouTube until August 31. Gojo’s past is covered in the first half of the video, while the second half focuses on the movie, which is chronologically set before the events of the first season. The video serves as a bridge to the upcoming “Shibuya Incident” arc, slated to begin on August 31. The new visual and trailer are coming on August 24.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie premiered on December 24, 2021, in Japan. Studio MAPPA (also working on the second season) animated the movie, which adapted the one-shot manga by Gege Akutami of the same title. Crunchyroll is streaming the movie in full. Viz Media describes the plot of the one-shot as:
Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?
Jujutsu Kaisen is based on a manga by Gege Akutami that is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. MAPPA also animated the first season of the TV anime adaptation. The plot follows Yuji Itadori who accidentally becomes a vessel of one of the most dangerous curses ever – Sukuna. Soon he finds out that there are people who fight curses and that they want to kill him to minimize the danger to society. However, he meets Satoru Gojo, one of the most powerful exorcists of modern times. Gojo offers him a way out by letting him study at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, where he’ll learn how to control his (and Sukuna’s) powers and be of use to exorcists, known as jujutsu sorcerers. But, something far more sinister is brewing and Yuji’s school days might be cut short…
