Jujutsu Kaisen released episode 17 on Friday, and we got to witness the epicness of the female characters! The episode immediately showed that Mai’s comments got Miwa to underestimate Maki, who then got to realize just how wrong she was.
She wasn’t even using the blade, and Miwa understood that she’d be dead otherwise. Although she got taken down quickly, I feel kind of bad for the kind blue girl. Then again, the fight ended when Maki took her sword, and I’m not sure if we saw a ‘retired’ comment. Going further, we got to see the other best girl Nobara fight the 3rd year witch Momo.
Huh?
The animation was amazing in both fights (and the next one below), and just look at how beautiful Nobara is!
Momo commented how it was weird that Nobara is used to fighting even though she’s just a first year. Just as she was about to knock the witch out with a cute hammer, Mai shot her and got her out of the tournament. And that set up the Zenin sisters fight. Although I thought Mai would have some kind of an upper hand, Maki was obviously stronger. Mai was literally thinking about not having her sister’s talent from the start, and the only chance she had was with her creation power and an unexpected 7th bullet. However, Maki, the badass that she is, just caught it and then ended the fight.
Sadly both the sisters are being mistreated by the family, and Maki seems to have the stronger character between the two. The episode ended with Mai crying because her sister left her, and I really hope they both end up becoming strong and proving the head of the clan wrong.
If you enjoyed episode 17, you can vote Jujutsu Kaisen as the best show on our weekly poll! And if you haven’t started it yet, the story goes:
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
The manga, written and illustrated by Akutami Gege, recently surpassed 25 million circulating copies (also including digital release)! It has been serialized since March 2018, which is a pretty short amount of time for such a big number. It will likely grow even more alongside the anime adaptation too.
