The Kagurabachi manga by Takeru Hokazono officially surpassed 1 million copies in circulation with the first four volumes, all of which will receive reprints on November 14. Volume 5 is set to release on December 4, 2024. The manga releases new chapters every week on the official Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps.
The manga recently surpassed 600,000 copies in circulation back in August this year for the first three volumes and now the popular manga continues to pave its path of success. Kagurabachi also won the 2024 Next Manga Award in the print category at the end of August, beating out other popular titles such as Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun if Episode of Mafia by hiroja and Osamu Nishi, Tsumiki Ogami & the Strange Everyday Life. by Miyu Morishitam, and DOGSRED by Satoru Noda.

Kagurabachi is a battle shonen manga written and illustrated by Hokazono that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on September 19, 2023. It received an unprecedented amount of hype upon its debut and now has fans inquiring about copies of the series at bookstores in Japan to the point the official account had to put out a statement asking fans to be patient with the reprints of the first volume, which eventually came on February 27, 2024.
Since its debut, Kagurabachi has received three cover pages and 12 color pages, most recently for chapter 53, and a recommendation from My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi himself. Fans can check out the recent color page below (SPOILER WARNING):
Takeru Hokazono’s Background
Hokazono’s success has quietly been building up in recent years. In 2020, the author won the 100th Tezuka Manga Award for their one-shot Enten, which was later published in Jump GIGA back in the spring of 2021 alongside their other one-shots Farewell! Cherry Boy! and then CHAIN during the summer.
Hokazono later published a new one-shot titled Madogiwa de Amu in Weekly Shonen Jump #19 in April 2022 and yet another, more popular one titled Roku no Meiyaku in Weekly Shonen Jump #35-36. Now, two years later, Hokazono’s hard work has paid off with Kagurabachi receiving a big debut!

Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son–they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. While the Kagurabachi manga already has over 1 million copies in circulation in Japan as of October 2024, Volume 1 will be released in English on November 5, 2024.
