Japanese rock band KANA-BOON has released their latest single “SUPERNOVA,” which serves as the opening theme for Cour 2 of the Dr. STONE: Science Future anime. The anime began streaming the second part of its Season 4 on July 10, while the full version of the song is now available for streaming and digital download.
The band is well known for its past contributions to anime, including “Silhouette” (Naruto Shippuden), “Starmarker” (My Hero Academia), and “Song of the Dead” (Zom 100). “SUPERNOVA” was written specifically for Dr. STONE: Science Future, with KANA-BOON commenting:
“We’re truly honored to perform the opening theme for Dr.STONE! Thanks to this opportunity, we’ve created a powerful track! ‘SUPERNOVA’ is a solid and aggressive song that perfectly matches the intensifying battles of Senku and his friends in this cour.”
Alongside the song release, a music video premiered featuring the band in roles symbolizing scientists and pioneers:

KANA-BOON further commented that “SUPERNOVA” explores the idea of imagination as central to both music and human progress. They noted that the music video enhances the song’s concept through the visuals, encouraging fans to experience the piece in full. You can watch the anime version of the opening below.
Riichiro Inagaki wrote the Dr. STONE manga, with art by Boichi. The series ended after 5 years of serialization on March 7, 2022, concluding with a total of 232 chapters.
The story follows a genius scientist, Senku Ishigami, as the he attempts to revive humanity after everyone gets mysteriously petrified. Having slowly achieved remarkable progress, their goal is now space, but Dr. Xeno has proven to be a new level of a challenge, along with Stanley Snyder.
