Kingdom Season 5 has revealed the main trailer, and the anime is set to premiere on January 6, 2024. Studio Pierrot and Signpost are animating. The new trailer features the opening theme song “Shirubebi (Guiding Fire) by DeNeel, and you can check it out below.
Kenichi Imaizumi will return to direct the series, while returning cast members include Jun Fukuyama as Sei Ei/Ying Zheng, Masakazu Morita as Shin Ri/Li Xin, and Rie Kugimiya as Karyo Ten/He Liao Diao. The previous cast announcement was released in November, and it included Toshiyuki Morikawa, Daisuke Hirakawa and Koji Ishii. Novel Core will perform the ending theme “RULERS.”
Kingdom is based on the best-selling manga by Yasuhisa Hara, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2006. The manga has not yet been licensed in English.
Crunchyroll is streaming the series and describes the plot as:
Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!
