A short anime adaptation of Koisuru ONE PIECE (ONE PIECE in Love)—the romantic comedy parody spin-off of Eiichiro Oda’s manga—was announced. The mini-series is part of a special promotional campaign leading up to the return of the main ONE PIECE anime and its Egghead Arc.
Originally created by Daiki Ihara, ONE PIECE in Love launched digitally on the Shonen Jump+ platform in June 2018. It re-imagines the world of ONE PIECE through the lens of high school life, focusing on a group of teenagers who share names with the Straw Hat Pirates in a combination of slice-of-life, comedy and romance.
The manga has been on hiatus since November 2021, when Ihara paused the series to focus on other projects, including Protect Me, Shugomaru! and Yokai Buster Murakami. While Ihara had initially planned to conclude ONE PIECE in Love, encouragement from the Jump editorial team led to a promise to return and properly finish the story. That promise is now being fulfilled as the series is officially resuming serialization on April 10, 2025, again via Shonen Jump+.
To celebrate its revival, the short-form vertical anime adaptation will be released for five consecutive days starting on April 1, 2025. Episodes will be released daily at 8:00 PM on the official ONE PIECE YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram accounts. The voice cast includes:
- Ryosuke Kanemoto as Luffy Yamamoto
- Ayane Sakura as Nami Koyama
- Yuichi Nakamura as Usopp Nakatsugawa
The announcement was made during the ONE PIECE stage event at AnimeJapan 2025, being held this weekend at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan, where the cast appeared on stage and a key visual for the anime was revealed.
