Konosuba: Fantastic Days Announces End of Service

It’s a sad day for KonoSuba fans, as the franchise’s mobile game KonoSuba: Fantastic Days has announced its end of service. The party-battle RPG, which was based on KonoSuba and featured an original story, was first launched in Japan in February 2020. The launch of the global version of took place in August 2021. Both versions will cease operations on January 30, 2025.

The official announcement confirmed that, although in-game purchases have effectively ceased, the game’s main story, campaigns, and events will continue until the end of service. In their announcement, Sumzap stated that an offline Japanese version of the game is currently in development. As of this writing, there have been no announcements on plans for a global offline version.

KonoSuba: Fantastic Days inspired a novel and manga adaptation. Hirukuma of Reborn as a Vending Machine fame publishes the novel, which features artwork by Kurone Mishima, who handled the illustrations in the original KonoSuba light novel. Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive serializes the Kasumi Morino KonoSuba: Fantastic Days manga.

What’s KonoSuba About?

Originally published via Shosetsuka ni Naro as a web novel, Natsume Akatsuki’s KonoSuba ran as a printed light novel in the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint from October 2013 to May 2020. Kurone Mishima illustrated the series. The franchise boasts several spin-offs, video games, OVAs, a movie, and three TV anime seasons.

The story follows Kazuma Sato, a NEET who dies from shock when he mistakenly thinks that a tractor ran him over. And while it’s not Truck-kun that sends him to the afterlife, he still finds himself face-to-face with a goddess promising another go at life. But displeased with her tone, he chooses her as the thing he can start over in another world. Once there, the broke duo slowly builds a dysfunctional party. A party that’s always coerced into fighting the Demon King. A task that’s easier said than done, but one that they exceed at. All seasons of KonoSuba are available on Crunchyroll.
