Singer LiSA will be returning for the new The Irregular at Magic High School anime, which is slated to premiere this year. The information was revealed as part of the upcoming 10th anniversary of the anime franchise. LiSA previously performed the first opening song, titled “Rising Hope,” for the TV anime. A special trailer featuring the song is now out:
Jimmy Stone will be directing the new anime series at studio 8Bit. Kana Ishida is in charge of the character designs, while Taku Iwasaki is working on the music. The new project revealed a teaser visual and trailer in July.
The Irregular at Magic High School series is a web novel by Tsutomu Sato. Originally published on Shosetsuka ni Naro, Dengeki Bunko published it in light novel format in 2011. Manga adaptations of each arc also exist. The Irregular at Magic High School: Magian Company sequel started in 2020.
The first season of the anime by studio MADHOUSE aired in the Spring of 2014, while the Visitor Arc sequel (season 2) followed in the Fall of 2020. Although MADHOUSE animated season 1, 8-bit took over for the 2nd season. The prequel, The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc (studio 8-bit) aired on December 31st, 2021. The franchise also has a movie from 2017, titled The Girl Who Summons the Stars (studio 8-bit). Spin-off anime The Honor at Magic High School by studio CONNECT aired throughout the Summer 2021 season.
