The popular Look Back manga by Chainsaw Man‘s Tatsuki Fujimoto will receive a live-action adaptation in 2026 by acclaimed Japanese film director Hirokazu Kore-eda. The news was revealed alongside the latest chapter’s debut on Shonen Jump+. The Look Back live-action film’s first visual was also revealed, and can be seen below.

Kore-eda writes, edits, and pens the screenplay for the Look Back live-action. Further Look Back live-action staff include:

As the copyright notice reveals, K2 Pictures, which operates a film fund, was involved in its creation. K2 was founded by Muneyuki Kii, a former producer at Toei. Reports in May 2024 revealed that Kore-eda had a project in the works, suggesting that the Look Back live-action was in development even before the release of the popular anime film (June 2024).
