Tencent Video has outlined an audacious plan for the ongoing Chinese animated series Lord of Mysteries, announcing plans for 7 seasons, with Season 2 already slated for 2027 at the latest. The news was shared by the series executive producer, Ma Yankun, during the 2025 Tencent Video Dongman (Cartoon) Awards Annual Press Conference live stream.
In addition to 7 seasons, 3 specials and a movie are planned. The production timeline of Lord of Mysteries is below (these dates are subject to change):
- Season 1 (currently ongoing): 2025
- Special 1: 2026
- Season 2: 2027
- Special 2: 2029
- Season 3: 2030
- Season 4: 2032
- Season 5: 2023
- Season 6: 2034
- Season 7: 2034
- Movie (adapting final part): 2035
- Special 3: 2035
It was also revealed that Season 2 (2027) will consist of over 30 episodes. Yankun, who is also the current co-president and COO of Tencent Video’s Online Business Unit, described Lord of Mysteries as one of Tencent Video’s most important IPs. A teaser for the upcoming Lord of Mysteries Special 1 (2026) was screened and can be seen at 28:30:44 of the live stream. Some stills are below.

Fellow executive producer Wu Mian voiced her gratitude at Lord of Mysteries‘ global popularity and thanked original author Yuan Ye (also known as Cuttlefish That Loves Diving), who sent a special message. Crunchyroll’s chief content officer, Asa Suehira, also said that Lord of Mysteries was “one of our most-watched series this summer.“
