Lycoris Recoil Manga To Conclude in Two Chapters

Written by JP Kristov

Monthly Comic Flapper announced that the Lycoris Recoil manga will end in two chapters. The series adapts the 2022 A-1 Pictures original TV anime of the same name.

Spider Lily (story) and Yasunori Bizen (art) launched the Lycoris Recoil manga on September 2022. Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper has serialized it since its debut. The publisher has compiled the manga into nine volumes as of August 2026.

Lycoris Recoil follows the life of members of Japan’s Lycoris Project, a state-sponsored anti-crime/terrorism unit composed of high school-aged orphans. The story centers on Takina Inoue, a skilled assassin who, while trying to save a fellow operative, disobeyed orders and jeopardized her mission. Due to her actions, Takina is removed from her team and transferred to a different position, where she becomes Chisato Nishikigi’s partner at Café LycoRyco. But once there, Takina struggles to understand her newfound assignment. She’s heard stories about Chisato’s achievements and fumbles, but can the carefree, genki girl before her really be that Chisato? After all, Chisato avoids killing and is seemingly unconcerned with her duties!

Shingo Adachi directed the TV anime and sequel ONAs; Lycoris Recoil: Friends are thieves of time. The anime’s starring voice cast included:

  • Chika Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi
  • Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue
  • Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara
  • Kosuke Sakaki as Mika
  • Misaki Kuno as Kurumi

Alongside the manga, Monthly Comic Flapper has released three anthology books. Asaura (author) and Imigimuru (illustrator) adapted the anime into a light novel titled Lycoris Recoil Ordinary Days. Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko began publishing the light novel on September 9, 2022.

The Lycoris Recoil franchise also includes a web novel, stage play, and an internet radio program titled LycoReco Radio. Yen Press publishes the English version of the manga and light novel in North America. Crunchyroll streams the anime.
