Yukimura posted a thread to X following the series’ conclusion. He thanked fans for following Thorfinn’s adventure over such a long period. “I wanted to depict the process of a child growing into an adult through various experiences. I wonder if I managed to portray it well,” he added. He pondered what it means to become an adult, a core part of Thorfinn’s journey from vengeful child to compassionate adult, and added that a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

The Japanese version of the book is scheduled to be published in September. I’m currently drawing the cover. Please wait a little longer,” Yukimura concluded. “Once I’ve finished working on the book… a break, huh. A break! Wow, it’s summer vacation! What should I do? I’ll go fishing. After, I’ll play The Legend of Zelda. I’ll study English.” Fans flocked to his post, sharing signed artwork from his many overseas appearances, well-wishes, fan art, favorite panels, and more. Yukimura’s Vinland Saga was widely praised for its character development, artwork, and the questions asked of its characters. It has over 7 million copies in circulation and spawned two anime seasons. The final Volume 29 will be released on September 22. You can check out Anime Corner’s interview with Yukimura here.

Kodansha USA publishes the series in English, describing it:
As a child, Thorfinn sat at the feet of the great Leif Ericson and thrilled to wild tales of a land far to the west. But his youthful fantasies were shattered by a mercenary raid. Raised by the Vikings who murdered his family, Thorfinn became a terrifying warrior, forever seeking to kill the band’s leader, Askeladd, and avenge his father. Sustaining Thorfinn through his ordeal are his pride in his family and his dreams of a fertile westward land, a land without war or slavery… the land Leif called Vinland.
