Hana lost too many calories in episode 10 of Mieruko-chan, and Miko goes back to trying to protect her friends whenever the spirits swarm around them. Unfortunately, it appears that she is unaware of the true reason why they are continually surrounded by spirits.
Warning: This Section Might Contain Spoilers.
We learn that Hana has a very large appetite in the first episode of Mieruko-chan. At first, I assumed it served to enhance the anime’s comedic value, but it seems like there is more to her irregular eating routing. According to the “Godmother” in episode 3 of the show, Hana is always attracting the ghosts. In episode 6 of the series, we seeethat Hana is emitting a glowing aura, and it seems that the ghosts are quite fond of it. Apparently, her being hungry has something to do with these ghosts, as if they are sucking energy away.
No one is apparently aware of what is the mystery behind her bottomless appetite. But, when she ends up having to go to nurse’s office after nearly passing out of hunger during Zen Toono’s class, Yuria starts asking questions. Zen Toono himself is quite mysterious and according to Yuri, many spirits follow him. Since Hana spends time with him they could also be affecting her, and making her hungry, while sucking her life aura away.
Hana is still unaware that Miko and Yuria have the ability to see ghosts. She also had no idea what Yuria was talking about when she stated the ghosts were draining her life force. How much longer will Miko and Yuria keep Hana in the dark? Is Hana going to be okay in the future if this phenomenon continues?
Hana Being Hungry Again
While having a snack in the part with Hana, Miko looks up and realizes that ghosts are everywhere. As usual, she is just ignoring them, but she confuses one of them for a normal kid and waves at him. As a result, the ghost charged at them, ready to attack but two spirits from the shrine in episode 6 appeared to protect her, defeating the ghost kid. When those spirits vanished, Hana suddenly felt that she was starving again, thus proving Yuria’s theory.
Of course, Hana has no idea about what happened in front of them. She was just surprised that she became hungry again right after she finished her meal. On the other hand, Miko saw a gruesome battle between the undead. How are they going to deal with this matter?
The episode ended with a mysterious person failing to torture a stray cat. Is this scene connected with Zen Toono, since many cat spirits are following him? If you are also curious, episode 11 will air on December 12, 2021, and you can watch it on Funimation.

A normal girl was living a normal life until she wasn’t.
One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?
And on top of that, nobody else can see them! Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.
Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, when the ghosts know she’s watching…
