Monsters by Eiichiro Oda Gets Anime Adaptation Directed by Sunghoo Park

At the ONE PIECE Day 2023, it has been announced that Eiichiro Oda’s MONSTERS will be getting an anime adaptation. The one-shot was included in the “WANTED!” short stories compilation released in 1998, and it be one TV anime episode in length. E&H production is in charge of the animation, with Sunghoo Park as the director. Check out the teaser visual:

The story follows a traveling samurai Ryuma, as he gets involved in a plot that featuring a dragon at a town he visits despite wanting to take it easy. It’s the early days of his legend, and we already know a little about it thanks to ONE PIECE. This one-shot is officially canon! It also received a voiced manga in 2021, and you can watch that below:

  • Sakamoto Maaya – Flare
  • Otsuka Hochu – Cyrano
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka – D.R.
  • Terashima Takuma – Bartender

The ONE PIECE manga by Eiichiro Oda first began in July 1997, and the legendary series exceeded 500 million circulating copies in August this year. It also celebrated the 25th anniversary last year, while the anime adaptation started in October 1999 and is also still going strong. The previous estimate for the manga ending was 4-5 years back in 2020. The manga currently has 1087 chapters, while the anime is at 1069 episodes. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
