Prior to the announcement, a new trailer for the ONE PIECE Netflix live-action was revealed. The main cast also did a session of live voice-overs for some scenes, which included the audience in fun ways. They were then joined by Hiro Shimono (adult Momonosuke) and Megumi Han (Tama-chan) on the scene for the Land of Wano Behind the Scenes Special.

The ONE PIECE manga by Eiichiro Oda first began in July 1997, and the legendary series exceeded 500 million circulating copies in August this year. It also celebrated the 25th anniversary last year, while the anime adaptation started in October 1999 and is also still going strong. The previous estimate for the manga ending was 4-5 years back in 2020. The manga currently has 1087 chapters, while the anime is at 1069 episodes. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
Monkey. D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who’ll never give up until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece!

The latest ONE PIECE movie, ONE PIECE FILM RED, grossed over ¥2.25 billion (~$15 million) with 1.57 million attendees in the opening weekend in Japan, which made the biggest opening-weekend numbers when it comes to both the audience and earnings among films of 2022. It also quickly became the best-performing film in ONE PIECE‘s history.
